He was hysterical and very angry. After I got him to calm down, he eventually told me that he got fired…
I know what you are thinking, that is all… that caused you to want to cry?
And the simple answer is YES. I work for an organization, were I work with people who face unemployment, underemployment and discrimination EVERYDAY. To see the hopelessness in their eyes is really starting to take a toll on me.
Hearing their stories, day in and day out, is slowly breaks my heart.
I try my best but everyday I am slapped with the reality that sometimes my best it not good enough and that is so hard. I know we live in an unjust society, where blackness is criminalized and we are made to believe that, if you do not succeed it is your fault, but living it and seeing it daily is so fucking hard.
Seeing my people being treated like shit and not respected really makes me question mankind.
